FAQ:  Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is it on the lake?
A: On the Northside of Wamplers Lake, Brooklyn, MI.  The bottom is sandy & the drop off is very, very gradual.  Lake depth at end of dock is 3'.

Q: Can I bring my boat?
A: Yes, Wamplers Lake is an ALL Sports lake.  780 Acres.  Depending on the size and style of boat you own you may want to anchor it rather than dock it.  The drop off is gradual so take off depth is further out than our dock.  There is room on the property for your boat trailer.  The state park has a launch ramp.

Q: Where can I rent a boat?
A: There are various Marinas and People renting boats in the area.  Please check Area Info tab to left.  We hope to have more information about this soon.  For now the Irish Hills Marina is probably your best choice.

Q: How many people will it sleep?
A: 6 People.  There are 2 bedrooms.  One has a King size bed and the other has 2 Twin Beds.  We offer an additional Sleeper Sofa with a Queen mattress and a Queen inflatable mattress. No more than 6 overnight guests are allowed without our approval.

Q: Bike Riding, Where can I ride?
A: Wamplers Lake Road has a designated Bike Lane/Route.  You will probably want to take younger riders across the street to Lakeshore/Shoreline Drive where it is 25 MPH.  Wamplers Lake Rd's path can be ridden to Hayes State Park or  Wamplers Heights Rd for fun exploring.

A: Yes.  You have a specified allowable time to cancel before it is not refundable.  See Sample Rental Agreement under the RATES tab.

Q: Why do I have to provide a Security deposit?
A: We respect you and hope you will respect our home.  We know that accidents happen, but we need to make sure any damages that are preventable are covered.  Your Security deposit is a token of your coverage.  If damage exceeds the $250.00 deposit you are responsible for the remaining amount.  See Sample Rental Agreement for details.

Q: Are there Mid-Week Rentals?
A: Rental dates are less flexible.  Because a large percentage of potential renters will want to rent from Saturday to Saturday dates, rates and times will probably stay on that schedule.  If there is an opening we may be open to change rental day/dates. It never hurts to inquire.

Q:  Why do short stays cost so much compared to a week?
A:  It costs us virtually the same amount in expenses and time no matter if you stay one day or a week.

Q: What if it Rains?  Do I get my money back?
A: No.  Unfortunately, no refunds are given based on weather.

Q: Can I Check-in Early?
A: If we can arrange it we will try.  Unfortunately, we need all of the time between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm for the cleaning and prepping of the Cottage.

Q: Is there Daily Maid Service?
A: No. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned before you check in.  We ask that you leave it broom clean upon leaving.

Q: What is Broom Clean?
A: We ask that you leave the cottage tidy.  We ask that dishes are in the dishwasher, trash collected and any excessive dirt be swept/vacuumed up.  We have very little time between your check out and the next check in, any help is appreciated.

Q: Where do I pick up the keys?
A: The cottage is locked using a coded combination lock, the code is provided to you for the duration of your stay.  It is erased upon check out.

Q: What is Pet Friendly?
A: We are willing to take your pet as a guest too.  We need to know ahead of your arrival and we have the rite to deny any pet without giving cause.

Q: What is the road like?
A: Wamplers Lake Road is also M-124.  There is a designated Bike Route on it.  The road connects downtown Brooklyn (M-50) to US-12.  The speed varies from 35 MPH to 50 MPH.  Caution should be used when crossing the road to the water.

Q: Where can I get a Fishing License?
A: There are several places in the area, but Knudsens Sports down the road sells all kinds of Licenses.

Q: What is the Mud Lake access like?
A: Depending on time of year and rainfall, the back wooded lot can be very marsh like.
